Hi, I’m Marilyn. I’m originally from Pennsylvania but have been in Atlanta – by way of Florida – since 1996. I love all things creative and am a self-professed grammar snob (be sure to check out my Grammar Do’s and Don’ts – coming soon). I earned a BBA in marketing and a minor in art from Stetson University. I also earned an MS degree in marketing communication & information technologies from Florida State. I officially started my marketing career in 1989 while I was a full-time grad student. I worked for a small advertising agency in Tallahassee and it was by far the craziest and most fun place I’ve ever worked. On top of that, I met my BFF there (she’s really like a big sis to me).
Fast forward a few decades (ouch!) and I’ve moved out of the corporate marketing world and am now semi-retired. I have an antique booth which I love (I always wanted to do this) and I work on marketing projects on a freelance basis. I don’t miss the crazy Atlanta commutes (for one job, I had 45 traffic lights on my drive to work!) or the corporate rat race at all (trust me, no matter what company you work for, there are always a few rats around). I enjoy having my own business and being my own boss. And it helps to have an amazing husband who’s incredibly supportive (and gainfully employed).
